    How you will impact Ingevity

    We believe superior technical support and new product development is critical to our customer’s ability to get the most out of our products.  As a Senior Chemist, your primary responsibilities will be in support of growth strategy of our Pine Chemicals business particularly in the ink, adhesives and coatings applications. You will provide a comprehensive solution to our customers, not just a product, to solve our customer’s toughest problems.

    • Become an expert on Ingevity Pine Chemicals, their use, and end application particularly in inks, adhesives and coatings areas. To accomplish this, you’ll need to learn fast, be curious & inquisitive, and take accountability for making this happen.
    • Apply your knowledge of ink, adhesive and coatings applications to Pine Chemicals for new product development. Assist in transitioning new products to manufacturing scale.
    • Become proficient in the performance testing of Pine Chemical related products or inks, adhesives and coatings.
    • Deliver exceptional product and technical assistance to customers across the spectrum of applications to solve their toughest challenges. This requires superior problem solving and critical thinking skills.
    • Apply proven application related testing skills for troubleshooting and product development support.
    • Utilize strong interpersonal and listening skills to build trust and effective relationships with the Ingevity technical, business development and the operation teams.
    • Use superior communication skills to prepare and deliver technical reports to the Ingevity support team.
    • Flourish in environment where the pace is fast and the expectations are high. In order to succeed, you will need to work on several projects simultaneously and be able to prioritize and re-prioritize them based on the business impact. 

    What you need to succeed

    • MS/PhD in polymer/organic chemistry, 2-5 years experience in commercial product development and application for inks, adhesives and coatings, by synthesis, and/or formulation, testing and scale up.
    • Experience in providing technical support to internal and external commercial customers.
    • Excellent communication of technical and operational activities verbally and in writing, with an ability to influence from a distance.
    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Previously demonstrated high levels of initiative, innovation, and analytical ability.
    • Experience related to Pine Chemicals industries is a plus.
