    How you will impact Ingevity

    As a Chemist, you will serve as an integral part of the Pavement Technologies R&D team providing support to our customers, as well as to our sales, production and plant operations groups.  Specific duties will include analysis using state-of-the-art analytical instrumentations, and collecting performance data on new and existing products, for SDS requests, and customer specific analytical inquiries. 

     

    • Be a leader in safety by working safely, following established protocol and develop new procedures to improve safe practices in our laboratories and production site.
    • Maintain chemical inventory (understand chemical differences for storage purposes, enter new chemicals, remove depleted chemicals, fill out new chemical request forms, create chemical SOP's for hazardous material (per SH&E), and drive to the plant to retrieve 5-gallon pails of raw materials)
    • Develop blends for internal sample requests
    • Print out proper paperwork and package samples when our group needs to ship something
    • Check on and order consumables so our group does not run out of jars, gloves, etc.
    • Maintain database for viscosity/density curves and FT-IR spectra
    • Regularly clean and maintain pH probes
    • PSE maintenance
    • Flourish in an environment where both independent work and team play are required.
    • Maintain records for SH&E (for DHEC and OSHA) on the XRF
    • Report writing, data entry, method development

    What you need to succeed

    • Currently pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
    • Knowledge of chemistry fundamentals.
    • Excellent communication of technical and operational activities verbally and in writing, with an ability to influence from a distance.
    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Previously demonstrated high levels of initiative, innovation, and analytical ability.
    • Hands-on synthesis and characterization/testing experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of analytical testing such as densities, gravimetric analysis, viscosity measurements, titrations, pH, flashpoint testing, etc., are preferred.
    • Experience related to Pavement Technologies industries is a plus.
