    How you will impact Ingevity

    This position is a process engineer for support of Ingevity’s Operational Excellence (OPEX) efforts.  As a key operational resource, the Operational Excellence Engineer is expected to work in and support all manufacturing locations and support functions to meet and exceed their productivity objectives.  This will be accomplished through the tactical use of OPEX, Lean or Six Sigma principles as applied to manufacturing site and support function team facilitation / leadership, plus support of Ingevity’s OPEX training efforts and project management of local initiatives and teams.  As an ambassador for OPEX throughout Ingevity, this role will demonstrate the value of the process in all manufacturing locations and support functions.

    • Lead, facilitate and support rapid action, short-, and long-term OPEX efforts within our manufacturing locations and corporate support teams to drive Ingevity productivity goals while continuing engagement of the OPEX culture throughout the organization.
    • Support training for Ingevity OPEX efforts, Lean / Six Sigma and other tool kits.
    • Support OPEX Leader in driving Lean and Six Sigma certification efforts for Ingevity employees.
    • Support Ingevity OPEX Leader, OPEX Team and Site Champions to monitor OPEX progress and drive team improvements.
    • Aid with control plan development and monitoring for manufacturing-based teams.
    • Active ambassador of OPEX culture and principles.

    What you need to succeed

    • Bachelor in Engineering, Finance or Supply Chain
    • Basic knowledge of OPEX principles, including experience using Lean and / or Six Sigma tools. Cross-functional or OPEX team facilitation and / or leadership skills. 
    • Experience in teaching / facilitating, project management, technical writing, and computer knowledge.
    • 5-10 years of Specialty Chemical experience preferred or Lean / Six Sigma experience within multiple functional areas of a manufacturing facility or supply chain network.
    • 2 years Facilitating and / or leading cross-functional plant-level or corporate-wide manufacturing or supply chain teams, preferably via OPEX principles.
    • 40-50% travel with possibilities of 80% for up to two-month duration when implementing an OPEX initiative at a manufacturing site.
