How you will impact Ingevity


Reporting to the Director- Global Product Stewardship, the Sr. Regulatory Compliance Specialist supports Ingevity businesses and manages complex, inter-disciplinary and strategic projects with a minimum of direct supervision. This position partners closely with R&D, Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain and Operations to support new product / market development and defense of existing products. This position serves as a representative to technical / regulatory committees of related trade associations. In addition, the Product Stewardship Project Manager will ensure the responsible and ethical management of Ingevity’s products to maximize their benefits and minimize the risks from their use through the Responsible Care Product Safety Code of Management Practices.

  • Improve and manage regulatory policies and strategies in support of Ingevity global business objectives across all product lines.
  • Monitor global regulatory changes and evaluate the potential regional / global impact within the context of Ingevity business scope and proactively coordinate activities accordingly.
  • Provide regulatory advice and consultation to Ingevity functions including Operations, Marketing and Sales.
  • Interacts with consultants, expert services contractors and other outside professional firms for toxicology issues, risk assessments and regulatory chemistry.
  • On an as-needed basis, work directly with major customers to support and/or resolve regulatory issues pertaining to the use of Ingevity products.
  • Support ad hoc project teams in associated areas that overlap with operational compliance (data management, supply chain, production)
  • Make recommendations and direct the actions necessary to effectively manage products to maximize their benefits and minimize their risks under the Responsible Care Product Safety Code program.
  • Support the overall SH&E organization as needed (e.g. internal audits)
  • Support the communication and awareness of chemical product safety regulatory best practices in all aspects, functions and geographies. Work with customers to promote Ingevity product stewardship efforts, insure customers get the information they need.
  • Manages and supports the protection of Ingevity Intellectual Property / Confidential Business Information.
  • Supports Product Stewardship group day-to-day document output and database maintenance needs.
  • Manages macro projects (global new substance notifications, REACH registrations, GHS country implementations, Food Contact Notifications, Merger & Acquisition projects) as assigned.

What you need to succeed

  • Degree in chemistry, toxicology or related scientific discipline from an accredited college / university
    • Bachelor's degree with 7 + years of relevant regulatory experience
    • Masters degree with 5 + years or relevant regulatory experience
    • Doctorate degree with 1-3 years of relevant regulatory experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of organic chemistry required. Experience with UVCBs, fatty acid chemistry and / or pine chemicals highly relevant
  • Previous chemical industry experience in any of the following: toxicology, industrial hygiene, risk analyses, global new substance notifications, GHS hazcom, PMNs, FCNs, FIFRA registrations
  • Ability to distill, summarize, and effectively communicate complex issues to upper management and non-technical individuals
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills (influencing, negotiating, managerial courage, conflict management, composure) are needed to make the best decisions and manage multiple projects
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (presentation, facilitation, listening)
  • High degree of chemical industry and business acumen, strategic agility and creativity required to keep Ingevity a leader in the areas of product stewardship and sustainability
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to changing environments, and be motivated to take on and anticipate new challenges within the Global Product Stewardship and Regulatory Group
