The Area Supervisor position is responsible for the tactical day-to-day operation of a specific area of the Covington Carbon Plant.  The Area Supervisor works closely with the maintenance coordinator, shift foremen, and maintenance supervisors to ensure production goals are met and necessary tasks are coordinated and executed for the safe and efficient operation of their plant area.

How you will impact Ingevity

  • Supervise and maintain manufacturing equipment and processes in a fast-paced union environment.
  • Establish work expectations, issue instructions and monitor performance for a specific work area.
  • Monitor environmental systems for a specific area to ensure permit conditions are met.
  • Monitor trends, process parameters and equipment condition to ensure quality specifications are met.
  • Work with the area engineer to ensure necessary changes and improvements are made for plant area to improve safety, equipment reliability, efficiency, quality of products and processes.
  • Train, coach and develop hourly personnel for plant area.
  • Identify, coordinate and facilitate maintenance needs for specific plant area to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Issue and ensure correct use of LOTO, safe work permits, contractor work authorization permits, etc.
  • Become part of a high performing management team; supporting and executing business strategy and cultural goals.

What you need to succeed

  • Candidate must have aptitude for problem solving, effective decision making, experience in training others, and be effective at leading individuals and groups toward resolution of issues.
  • Ability to support systems to maintain IATF 16949 and RC 14001 certifications.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, production supervision experience preferred, technical degree a plus but not necessary.
  • Knowledge of chemical processes, equipment, and manufacturing technologies including mechanical conveying, piping systems, pumps, and instrumentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through electronic means, using current software platforms and mobile devices.
  • Knowledge of maintenance processes including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations and principles.
