You will be responsible for leading the quarterly and year-end tax income tax provision reporting and federal, state and international income tax compliance. It will be critical for you to work collaboratively within the tax team, across the finance department, and with outsourced tax preparation and compliance partners. This position will report to the vice president of tax.

You should also be familiar with the federal tax implications of international companies and be able to interface with peer positions both domestically and internationally. In addition, they will have responsibility for the IRS federal income tax audits and significant special projects, including interaction with tax advisors in the completion of an annual R&D tax credit project. You should demonstrate leadership ability across the tax function and broadly across the business structure. Your flexibility in supporting the tax functions of this growing business will be appreciated.

How you will impact Ingevity

  • Provide leadership to the tax team and to other corporate functional areas with respect to income tax accounting.
  • Lead the income tax provision process and ensure timely, accurate compliance with all aspects of ASC 740 reporting, including: FIN 48 and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements.
  • Establish strong communication channels with controller’s office to ensure timely and consistent tax accounting reporting.
  • Develop quarterly and annual effective tax rates estimates, the adequacy of tax account reconciliations and deferred tax account roll-forward analysis.
  • Maintain income tax compliance, including the federal consolidated income tax return, state income tax returns and international returns filed globally.
  • Manage compliance with Transfer Pricing policy including reviewing required profit margins and computations and establishing and maintaining Country by Country reporting document yearly
  • Provide strong leadership to the compliance and reporting team and to the tax department in general.
  • Support reporting needs for the company mergers, acquisitions and restructuring activities.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all tax related research and data.
  • Lead federal and state tax audits as required.

What you need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • Eight or more years of experience; preferably a CPA with public accounting experience, as well as global corporate experience.
  • Extensive tax compliance knowledge and experience, especially with accounting for income taxes (ASC 740) and Sarbanes – Oxley requirements.
  • High ethical standards combined with demonstrated ability to act as an ambassador of the company.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time.
