How you will impact Ingevity

The PM Mechanic role is an important part of the Ingevity Deridder workforce.  The PM stands for Prevenative Maintenance and this role is responsible for helping to keep many crucial mechanical parts within our plant runing in optimal condiiton.  This directly impacts our production of products and the bottom line.  This position requires 3-5 years experience as a Multi-craft journeyman with a skill set in one or more of the following crafts: Pipefitting, Welding, Mobile Equipment, Millwrighting or General Mechanic.

  • Mechanic skills and operation functions of mechanical components of pumps, compressors, valves, blowers, belts, mechanical seals and other specialized equipment.
  • Basic understanding of industrial equipment and piping materials metallurgy including gaskets, packing and seals.
  • Working knowledge of welding practices and familiar with mobile equipment operations.
  • Experience with industrial safe work practices, (i.e. lock-out tag-out, confined space safety, hot work permitting, basic electrical safety, chemical handling and safety requirements).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required along with Technical or Trade School qualifications preferred.

 

What you need to succeed

  • Computer skills and knowledge of various software programs
  • Basic repair and maintenance techniques including safe work practices, troubleshooting and root cause analysis of mechanical equipment breakdowns.
  • Ability to dismantle, repair, install, or move machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Perform job safety analysis on planned work.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and engineering documents and specifications.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and work well with others.  
  • Problem solving abilities with team leadership skills
  • Customer focused with the ability to train employees
  • Experienced with organizational abilities and able to prioritize and schedule work assignments, as well as organize resources and set priorities.
  • Must have good oral and written skills to complete necessary paperwork and communicate with others. Responsible for working with and interacting with other plant personnel, as well as outside contractors and vendors.
