How you will impact Ingevity

Ingevity's DeRidder, LA plant is looking for an experienced Sr. Electrical Engineer to support the implementation of the location's capital program.  The plant executes many millions in capital additions every year.  Projects such as chemical process systems improvements, utilities systems upgrades, environmental infrastructure and technology innovations and product manufacturing systems process controls interventions.  The plant's Sr. Electrical Engineer plays a major role in most every significant element of the capital plan.  Additionally, the position coordinates the plant's electrical safety program and provides consultation and technical support to the Electrical & Instrumentation Maintenance team.

  • This position is involved in all new capital projects that involve electrical power distribution, instrumentation, process controls and/or electrical equipment specification.
  • Work individually or with a team to develop the scope and appropriation grade cost estimates for capital and major maintenance projects and participate in justification of projects, specification reviews, drawing reviews, safety reviews, and other project document reviews.
  • The role at times calls for project engineering, providing support to Operations customers in the development of project scopes, equipment specification and project cost estimating.
  • On multi-million dollar projects, the role is more project management focused. In this case the engineer collaborates with the engineers at one of several Consulting Engineering partner firms doing the detail design engineering.
  • Teams up with the Process Controls group to match the latest instrument technology with plant distributive controls infrastructure to achieve fresh and effective control schemes in a quest to reach for competitive edge.
  • Design and specification of low and medium voltage power distribution systems, lighting systems, and other systems for industrial facilities.
  • Insure that electrical classification, technical documentation, spare parts identification, and code compliance is in order for all projects.
  • Coordinate the on-site work of electrical contractors and provisions by key suppliers meet specifications and requirements for workmanship and safety.
  • Participate in technical and safety investigations, studies, problem review, new and proposed equipment, materials, processes and facilities and provide sound engineering evaluations and recommendations for proposed actions.
  • Plant liaison with electric power provider and provide technical support for site high voltage PM program.

What you need to succeed

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum 10 or more years of experience in Project Engineering/Management in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of technical Electrical specifications and drawings, including single-line drawings, elementary wiring diagrams, piping & instrumentation diagrams, and control loop drawings.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in three phase and single phase power distribution, distributive control systems, programmable logic control system, HMI configuration, AC/DC drive systems, arc flash requirements, NFPA 70 / NEC code requirements
  • Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project) for use in analysis, communications, and presentations. Also needs to be highly proficient in the use of CAD software for documenting loop and circuit drawings.
