At Ingevity, we’ve embraced an exciting mission: to reduce energy demands and minimize air emissions by converting traditional hot-mix asphalt paving to lower temperature, warm-mix asphalt paving.  We’ve developed a high performance, proven technology called Evotherm that accomplishes this through innovative chemical additives.  In addition to the environmental benefits, Evotherm also delivers improved performance, which leads to better and longer lasting roads.  Fundamental to our challenge is identifying and developing target markets that share in the same vision we have of a progression towards better and greener paving.

As our Technical Marketing Manager, you’ll formulate and implement strategies to establish warm-mix asphalt paving across Arizona, California, Nevada.   You’ll identify and drive partnerships with key decision makers & influencers that will ultimately enable Evotherm to become the clear choice in paving technologies.  You’ll be the lead spokesperson for Evotherm, to help our partners clearly see the value it creates for them and for our environment.  We’re looking for someone who thinks big and thinks now.  With over 400 million tons of hot-mix asphalt paving placed annually in the U.S. alone, opportunities are limitless.  We are looking for a great communicator, with intuitive strategic thinking, and a prolific track record of building productive partnerships.

How you will impact Ingevity

  • Create substantial recurring Evotherm business across California, Arizona and Nevada.
  • Develop, execute, and manage territory strategy for warm-mix asphalt adoption, including key markets, ideal partners, positioning, and timeline
  • Use critical advancement skills to recognize the next step required to proceed towards each objective and the ultimate goal
  • Apply the sales cycle successfully across a complex environment by creating superior value for all decision makers and influencers
  • Take complete ownership for creating and sustaining the momentum crucially needed to drive the change towards Evotherm warm-mix asphalt
  • Excite and motivate road owners (various agency and multi-level DOT personnel) through superior communication skills in presenting and positioning Evotherm. 
  • Anticipate and effectively deal with questions and objections
  • Lead the supporting efforts of lobbyists, public relations, government, regulatory, and research institutions to drive change faster
  • Achieve specification adoption throughout the territory to establish Evotherm as the preferred paving technology
  • Master all aspects (properties, design, testing, construction, performance) of Evotherm’s performance compared to hot-mix asphalt paving across commonly employed mix types (Superpave, SMA, GTR, dense & open graded)
  • Create relationships built on trust with all key partners through frequent face-to-face interactions (various agencies, contractors, road owners).
  • Direct and coordinate the support resources needed to successfully organize and execute demonstrations and paving projects
  • Become communication nucleus between key partners and Charleston support team
  • Gain skills to provide hands-on support during construction work when needed

What you need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of degree 
  • 5 – 7 years of sales and asphalt industry experience preferred
  • Must possess strong technical expertise around pavement design & construction and be an active participant in the paving industry
  • Ability to build strong relationships across governmental agencies and contractors
  • Willingness to gain skills to provide hands-on support during construction work when needed
  • Genuine curiosity and questioning with an intent for problem solving
