How you will impact Ingevity

The Project Engineer will have the unique opportunity to lead the definition and execution of capital investments in support of Ingevity’s growth strategy while partnering with business units in facility planning and suggesting innovative ideas and solutions to improve operations and profitability. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide project management and engineering leadership and oversight to business units and manufacturing plants for capital projects and studies with installed costs of greater than $10 M, or several smaller jobs with major impact on operations. Support capital investment evaluations through the consistent application of the front-end loading (FEL) process.
  • Manage all aspects of assigned projects from feasibility study through scope definition, equipment selection, purchasing, process design, detail design, construction, and startup and post startup optimization to achieve the project business objectives. Ensure that key project objectives for safety, cost, schedule and operational capability are met.
  • Develop detailed specifications for capital equipment, ensuring technical feasibility while incorporating the best economic value.
  • Provide safety leadership at all stages of the project from concept and design through construction and installation to start up.
  • Work closely with purchasing to ensure that capital equipment and construction contracts meet project objectives and take advantage of company purchasing power.
  • Manage staff of consultants and contractors and coordinate maintenance activities associated with assigned capital projects.
  • Provide leadership to organize and ensure consistency of key capital data, engineering specifications, property conservation, and adoption of policies and procedures across the corporation.
  • Be a role model for leading cross-functional teams. Build a strong skill set in operations by mentoring team members.

What you need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, preferably mechanical or chemical. An advanced degree or a professional engineering license is preferred.
  • 10-15 years of industrial experience with an emphasis on engineering of capital projects and a proven track record of managing successful projects.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in construction management and/or process design/modifications.
  • Proficiency in working with piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), including understanding, developing and creating using AutoCAD.
  • Expertise in at least one of the following: risk management, property conservation, engineering specifications, or materials of construction.
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
