Develop new processes or optimize existing processes for manufacturing adsorption media for existing market applications and future customer needs. Develop and execute experiments from pilot to full-scale production. Perform experimental design and statistical data analysis and communicate across multifunctional groups. Deliver creativity and critical thinking to solve open-ended problems while assuring precision in experiments and sound recommendations for the business. Serve as manufacturing process and product expert in select process improvement and troubleshooting efforts. Document work and recommendations through monthly reports, technical memos and presentations. Balance multiple project priorities, apply practicality, and assure flexibility. Must be willing to travel nationally and internationally 25%. Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States and abroad.
Employer will accept Ph.D degree in Engineering, or related technical field and 1 year of work experience in job offered or 1 year of work experience in a research related occupation. Experience must include: 1) Creating and leading statistically sound pilot plant experiments to aid in plant design and process improvement projects; 2) Analyzing experimental and process data using Mini-Tab statistical software, and using data to make recommended process changes; 3) Researching published literature for solutions to complex process problems, and applying these solutions to our processes; 4) Troubleshooting product quality issues and recommending process changes; 5) Operating pilot scale production equipment, including mixers, reactors, extruders, wash stands, and dryers; 6) Operating pilot scale analytical equipment, yield pressure testers, reactivity test stands, and pellet strength testing equipment; 7) Working in full-scale manufacturing environments; 8) Experience in manufacturing specialty activated carbon products. Experience may be gained concurrently. Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable. Must be willing to travel nationally and internationally 25%. Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States.
