The Instrument & Electrical (I&E) Maintenance Supervisor/Planner is responsible for maintaining the electrical and instrument equipment at the Charleston Performance Chemicals Plant. This includes direct supervision of hourly I&E maintenance technicians assigned to the Chemical Plant and planning of required I&E maintenance work orders. This role’s primary objective is to improve I&E equipment reliability in a safe and cost efficient manner.

How you will impact Ingevity

  • Support the plant’s positive safety culture through enforcement of safe work practices, employee engagement, participating on safety and incident investigation teams.
  • Plan I&E work orders by developing job scope, procuring equipment, developing work packages and updating maintenance plans in the CMMS.
  • Supervise the hourly I&E maintenance employees including responsibility for safety, daily work scheduling, job execution, troubleshooting, and employee performance.
  • Secure and manage outside resources (contractors, vendors, consultants, etc.) as needed to provide support for I&E and mechanical related jobs and projects.
  • Support reliability to reduce break-ins and equipment downtime through the use of Pdm, PM, RCFA, training and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support production, environmental and process safety management through planning and executing Title V, PSM and ISO instrument work orders as well as equipment outages. Periodically on call on a rotational basis.  
  • Support project engineering for I&E related jobs including planning and executing. Make recommendations and provide economic justifications for capital expenditures in support of the plant’s productivity, safety, environmental and cost reduction objectives.
  • Maintain housekeeping of job sites and I&E Shop and continuous improvement through 5S projects.

What you need to succeed

  • BS Electrical Engineering degree and 3 years of industrial experience or 5 years of industrial experience with supervision experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles.
  • Knowledge of local and national electrical codes including NFPA 70E.
  • Experience with DCS/PLC, VFD, HART communication, calibration and repair of plant instrumentation, analyzer calibration, and burner management controls.
  • Excellent technical, engineering, writing, time management, problem solving and communication skills. Lead I&E team meetings and training.
  • Must be proficient with CMMS, SAP preferred, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) concepts.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must foster a positive team environment with engineers, management, union and non-union craftspeople, and suppliers and contractors.
